Abstract

Extractive fishing has reached its maximum level and increases in production can only come from aquaculture. The objective of this research is to evaluate the implications of shrimp companies in the socio-economic - environmental development of the Tumbes Region, year 2017. The inductive-deductive method was used. Surveys were applied to 500 workers from 50 shrimp companies, the distribution of companies was: 50% were from Zarumilla, 40% from the Province of Tumbes and 10% from Contralmirante Villar. As a result, there are eight types of workers, such as: managers, engineers, biologists, administrators, accountants, field and administrative assistants, drivers, feeders and pool attendants, 50.4% are unskilled. 82% of workers are satisfied with their current job in the company, 72% of workers were not underemployed and 56% were not unemployed before joining the company. In conclusion, the shrimp companies generated jobs in the Tumbes Region, and developed their production considering the conservation of the environment, but it is necessary to permanently evaluate the felling of mangroves, verification and certification of water quality, and develop a management plan. environment, as well as capacity building for its workers.
